Hendricks is a total badass. Even though most people could not stand him, he did great things for wrestling. Plus he went harder than almost anyone. Johny could push the pace longer than anyone. Remember how loud it was every time he wrestled, that is what wrestling needs. It sounds like he is loving the life style he is in now. MMA guys should fear him. With his attitude I would not be surprised if he was the Call of Duty National Champion. Keep your ears open in the MMA world, he will be on top soon.

I've always wondered whether college wrestlers get special treatment in their studies to make grades in order to wrestle. Now I am convinced that they do. I wonder how they are going to bill Mr. Hendricks...hmmm, " in the Octagon"

The person below me is the perfect example of someone who brings nothing to society. Instead of being an inspiration and national champion you decide to go onto fighting websites and critique people who have found a way in life. This guy will get more recognition in his life than you or your pathetic family could ever get. He is clearly excited about fighting which is why he can't quite put his finger on why he loves it so much. You might make fun of the stupid smile but I promise you he will be wearing that same smile when you are on the ground with a broken nose in an octagon.

this is a perfect example of a dumbass wrestler who would never bring anything to society outside of wrestling. He was an education major at okie st. but obviously the 5th graders that he would have taught are more intelligent than this tard. Interviews like this should be destroyed because they bring the sport down. I hope this guy gets his blasted, he should have his nuts cut off so he can not spread his seed to someother hill-jack trailor park trash.

When he was in college I was never a big fan of his, but after watching this interview I have changed my opinion. He is his own dog and seems like he would be a pretty cool guy to kick back with. Is he crazy? No question he is a little nuts, but that's what adds to his appeal. You would have to be nuts to do what they do, but if it works for him that's all that matters. How soon before a Hendricks/Askren fight?

Its funny how whenever anyone brings up God or the Lord people start to make fun or degrade what the person says. He was not being y or arrogant at all during this interview. Just because he is fighting does not mean he is any less of a christian.
"Blessed be the Lord my rock, who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight..." -Psalms 141:1
The Lord wants strong men like Johhny, not weak minded boys like the rest of you.
He can use his great athletic ability and fighting skills as a witness for christ. The Lord works in hidden and mysterious ways, most of those ways feeble minded intellects cannot begin to comprehend.

Wrestling will hate itself and kill itself. Guys like Johny hendricks, ben Askren, Mo Lawal...people will hate these guys and its ironic that those are the people that claim to love wrestling but really they are killing it by being such haters. The haters below are the same people that hated on Hendricks when he was in college. Maybe if those guys showed a little more love Hendricks wouldnt have left wrestling. Im sure Flowrestling would love to have his face up more.

Haters....   November 19, 2008 at 11:09am
I dont know what y'alls issue is with him. He is enjoying what hes doing, what more do you want? If Johnny decided that his life would be most fulfilled picking up trash everyday, then would you give him the same type of treatment? It is his life and it his prerogativewhat he choses to do with his time. I dont think I would want to get punched in the face, but if he finds that enjoying and fulfilling, then more power to him.

Also, everyone running their mouth should know, you are only helping him.

I don't think it's ridiculous. If you're a religious person and believe that God has a plan for you, and maybe you believe losing that match was part of it... that doesn't make you an idiot. Maybe he's not the best public speaker, but like he said, he likes to have fun... seems like his personality. I don't think he sounds unintelligent or anything.

So, God's plan was to turn you into a clown who says "all I want to do is break something...blah blah blah"? Which god do you worship? I think you are going to be the one who gets hurt, especially with that attitude. Just as Mark Perry.

God has a plan for your life and He made you lose that last college match so he could reveal it to you???
And now God's plan is workout and play video games??? And have the desire to go into the cage and "break" some part of someone's body. Sorry Johnny. That is your plan and not God's plan.

Wow   November 18, 2008 at 8:36pm
I will go on the record as saying that I did like him as a competitor...worked hard, was good, etc...but I saw this guy at Nationals this year wearing his fight gear, and if the MMA does not work out (which it more than likely will), this guy sounds like a complete dope. Some of us former wrestlers have the same intensity and desire to be the best, win fights, excel in life in our own careers, etc., but he does sound like a complete idiot, which to each their own, but we are all hoping that someday you think about the next (I don't know) 15-30 years of your life (and I am a big MMA fan). He just sounds superficial (in love with his own flambuoyant personality), and promotional with the fact that he doesn't want to have a real (I know MMA is tough--a full-time commitment for 10 years of your adult life) job. Video games + being tough = success...if you don't come back to wrestling, I will be surprised.

Thank You Lord   November 18, 2008 at 7:33pm
Thank you lord for Johny Hendricks. Makes me smile every time i hear him talk and is so refreshing that he just says what he wants. People in the wrestling world never could realize that he was the best thing for wrestling and when they lost him they lost a huge aspect of their marketing potential. That is why wrestling is dying and fighting is taking off.

Johny Hendricks

November 18, 2008
Johny wants to hurt people break something when he fights. He loves that all these wrestlers are getting into mma. At the end of his college wrestling career his heart wasn't in it, he beat a bunch of top guys in very short period of time and started slipping into a routine, which he doesn't like. In his first workout with Team Takedown he got knocked out and decided he loved it. A steady diet of training and playing video games is what Johny does on a daily basis and he is ready to finally get at it on December 3rd.
