Ben over the last two years of his college career was flawless. His first two years were not half bad either, each time going losing in the finals of the NCAA tournament. Ben Askren will mostly be remembered for the entertaining fashion he wrestled his matches. He always had fun and always put on a show for the fans.
In 2008 he won the U.S. Nationals and Olympic trials and competed in the Bejing games. Since then he has continued on as an volunteer wrestling coach and has begun training mma at American Top Team in Columbia, MO. His first fight is likely to be in early 2009.

Actually with a staff like that theyv really stepped their game up. Could be a serious power in a few years if they get their recruits up. I heard the school is not very personal due to the high volume of students and a few people i know who went there said they would have chosen elsewhere if they knew that. Wrestling is great, but a future and great education is much more important.
Can anyone give more insight into their educational system?
We saw Ben adapt to freestyle quickly. You have to believe the same holds true with his stand up game. Mark my words, if Askren gets a shot at Johny, he will destroy him. After the match Is over and Johny boy is coming out of his coma, Ben will be dancing around the ring waving his ASU flag to the crowd!
Go get em Big Ben, there are always gonna be haters.
And how is this for a sales pitch, the coaching staff consists of Shawn Charles, Bryan Snyder, Ben Askren, Raymond Jordan and Brian Stith... now THAT is one hell of a sales pitch if you wanna be a good wrestler, not to mention the girls and the weather
Ben just got done cutting a little weight for his upcoming fight this Friday in Des Moines. He is fighting Matt Delanoit who is significantly better than his 2 previous opponents. Ben is in the process of moving from Missouri to Arizona where he will coach at Arizona State and train in mma at a couple places down there, including Arizona Combat Sports which houses many top fighters and UFC competitors.
