- See Less - You know you are good when you are referred to by 3 letters. GSP had a background in Kyokushin karate and took his first fight at 16 years old when he beat a 25 year old fighter. He progressed and worked on his ground game to become a more well rounded fighter. In 2006 he won the UFC title from Matt Hughes then lost it in his following fight to Matt Serra. Since then he defeated Hughes and Serra in consecutive fights and once again became the UFC welterweight champion.

Bowling was a great wrestler, I know I beat him on multiple occasions. (sorry Leister) I think it is great he is able to use his wrestling to further himself and it is awesome he gets the chance to train fighters of this caliber. It looks like to me they using this practice to work on technique and are not really going live. but unlike some of u i am okay with saying i dont know cause i wasnt there i just watched the vid! sorry i wasnt trying to bash anyone i just get tired of the unneeded judgmental comments.
Why dont you brainless s watch an mma fight just once in your life. Then maybe you'll realize that Nate is an entire weight class above g.s.p. and was getting tooled by him effortlessly!!! .........
Wow, I can't believe people are arguing over GSP's wrestling skills. Sure he's probably not the best at technique but watch his fight against Kos, ya know where he dominated him on takedowns. Pure wrestling isn't his game and mma is...Mixed Martial Arts, not wrestling. I really think that had he started wrestling early in his life he could of been a world class wrestler and I still think he can now, but he would have to really dedicate himself to wrestling and stop training mma for awhile.

GSP looks like he is picking up wrestling at a quick pace. This is some sweet behind the scenes footage. Nice to see these MMA guys working on the wrestling mat. Great job Purefight!
GSP and Nate Marquardt worked on their wrestling at the University of Northern Colorado where they work with UNC assistant wrestling coach Leister Bowling.
GSP is sponsored by Under Armour February 1, 2010

Seriously though I could beat him at a buffet race
