Ben over the last two years of his college career was flawless. His first two years were not half bad either, each time going losing in the finals of the NCAA tournament. Ben Askren will mostly be remembered for the entertaining fashion he wrestled his matches. He always had fun and always put on a show for the fans.
In 2008 he won the U.S. Nationals and Olympic trials and competed in the Bejing games. Since then he has continued on as an volunteer wrestling coach and has begun training mma at American Top Team in Columbia, MO. His first fight is likely to be in early 2009.
I don't know how good Josh Flowers is, but he did terrible scouting. He through all his weight into that pre-takedown punch(against a wrestler). Askren had great timing with his double-leg and Josh never had a chance from there on out. Askren did all the right things(hooking the legs and flattening his opponent out after taking josh's back. Overall Askren does a great job, but I need to see him fight someone much better in order to jump on the bandwagon.
Wow, did they just pick this kid up off the street? When he fights someone who is actually skilled, I will pay attention. I will go a head and say ben is a good wrestler, but I am going to hold the phone on the MMA career for right now.
GOOD Job Ben. Ur an awesome wrestler, I've seen a lot of your wrestling matches. All are exciting. You'll do fine in the fight game. Next time just throw those hands and don't worry about getting hit. With a chin like urs it'll take a wrecking ball to knock you out. JK. Keep it up.
he has alot of work to do. needs to improve his hands, fought a total can just temper the enthusiasm please. don't even know if his heart is totally into it
wow you guys are always quick to criticize. his stand up game looked fine..he was there for like 4 seconds and people have something to say. people are on this site for a reason, it's because they are fans..now be supportive and just say good job. You shouldn't criticize the guy who won.
Ben looks like he's open to head shots. He better start working on his boxing game, also a nice knee or kick to his head might be opened. You can' t double leg everyone. He just started so give him 2-3 years my guess. I have no idea what his submission game is.
Bens weaknes is his stand up, but he is just getting started in MMA and he will fix that. The trainers really need to work on the celebration lift though, that was funny when they tried to lift Ben and he fell to the mat.
Yo if Ben works on his stand up and submission skills DAMMMMM! one bad ASS MO FO... It will take a little bit but he'll do very well in MMA good luck Ben And God Bless
lol i thought i was going crazy but there actually is no sound. Ya ben needs to work on his stand up game hardcore he kinda looked like a wimp for a little bit on his feet.
