Phil Davis signs with the UFC

Mark Bader 2 years ago

2008 NCAA champion Phil Davis began his mma career shortly after completing a very successful wrestling at Penn State. Phil started his career training out of Lionheart Fighting gym in State College, PA before moving to San Diego, CA to train at Alliance Training Center with Brandon Vera. He has put together a 4-0 record and just signed with the UFC. Davis is an extremely talented athlete who could have a very successful career as a fighter, his strength, quickness and wrestling mentality will make him a tough guy.

What are your thoughts on Phil making the move into the UFC after just 4 professional fights, do you know anything about him? Do you think he will do well? Do you think he is moving too fast? Any thoughts of your own to this topic are encouraged....

Quiet down there Bobby D, who are you to say who the UFC should or shouldn't sign, I think they've done a pretty good job to this point and they probably wanted to get Phil Davis before he signed with Strikeforce like King MO, Tyron Woodley and other up and comers who are signing with SF

Phil Davis only has 4 fights, what was the ufc thinking....? i really dont think 4 fights is enough to tell if a guy is really going to be legit or not.

IMO i think he'll do really well. After his first two fights, people will be fileing on the bandwagon. It's going to be fun to watch him fight. I predict a title in a two years

I knew they were both NCAA champs but i didnt realize they wrestled each other... was it close?

it would be cool to see the 06-07 NCAA 197 pounders finalists duke it out in a cage

I wanna see Phil Davis fight Jake Rosholt, but it would only be fair to let him get some wins under his belt in the UFC as Rosholt has been training longer than Davis... although I think if you match them up right now Davis would actually win.

I don't think he is moving too fast, I mean this guy is waaay too talented to fight in some regional show, he would actually hurt someone, he's gonna do well
