I think Shogan could have ended it but seemed afraid of Machida's striking. In the later rounds Machida's legs were obviosly weekened by the Shogan's leg kicks but still shogan didn't push the ground game... |

i can say that machida has an AWESOME defense, he can also dodge like no other, and he can block, strike, and like i said, its impossible to hit him. He also has the edge of possibly striking better because he has definitely has put in the time to perfect his karate striking. But, shogun, has that mean, and hard aggressive style of muay thai, and he is one of the guys that will come hard and fast. I also wouldn't doubt it if he threw the first punch, let alone throw some major bombs, we have all seen his power, i bet he'll try to end by knockout, and machida will try to win with his elusive, unorthodox style and punch and kick with the grace of perfected karate. (I personally hope that machida wins cause well...I like him better. No offense to anyone whos likes shogun better, everyone is entitled to their opinion) |

So we are on the eve of UFC 104 and Lyoto Machida is going to try to defend his light heavyweight title against Shogun Rua who is out to take it away from him. Machida is coming off a win over previous champ Rashad Evans while Shogun knocked out former champ Chuck Liddell, something that Rashad Evans did before his won the belt. It has been a while since we have seen a fighter establish himself and make a run as champ at 205, do you think Machida will be able to take this fight and do that himself? What are your thoughts on this fight and how do you see it going?
