"Effective striking & grappling, aggression and octagon control". This is the wording used for the criteria that the UFC judges use to score fights. |

Yeah, I mean -- in boxing, in a close fight, the guy who moves forward and presses the fight usually scores better. But in the BJ v Edgar fight that wasn't the case. Neither was it the case for Machita v Shogun 1. Edgar did a lot of backing up. Machita did a lot of backing up. So I'm guessing the UFC doesn't score it that way. Maybe backing up a lot is a good thing to the UFC judges. |

one round at a time, that's funny. But I think he meant he is not sure exactly what criteria is used in scoring a fight, it seems kind of ambiguous and fuzzy at times. In their first fight nobody knew who won the fight until the decision was announced, if they would have read the scores and then said BJ won, I think people would have accepted it. It was just such a close fight and a very tough one to judge. |
