Pete is a dangerous striker, and even though he's getting a little older he's still a dangerous fight for just about anyone.

We're also looking at a rematch with Brian Gassaway...

larry srock 2 years ago

i will be glad to see what happens in the upcoming months. i will be watching to see how he handles the pete spratt fight.

Bryan 2 years ago

It will depend on the circumstances at that point - the current plan is Mike Jackson, Pete Spratt, and we'll go from there.

larry srock 2 years ago

bryan, i understand where you are coming from. if i have my facts strait then the plan for the future is this. in marcio's contract it states if he won the fight with dylan, which he did, he gets the first crack @ him for the belt. so if marcio gets that fight as contracted with dylan, he then will be the champ. i was told by mr cook that levi was going to rematch mike jackson, if this is true, and if he wins the next imediate plan is for him to fight the champ for his belt, which would either be dylan or marcio. so my question is this, if levi wants the belt back and marcio has it, is he then not interested in a rematch with marcio?

Bryan O'Rourke 2 years ago

Larry I know Marcio is your guy, but he isn't anywhere close to being on Levi's level. We're a few fights away from getting called up, and padded wins aren't going to get Levi in the UFC. Mike Jackson is a fight Levi wants. Dylan wasn't ready to fight Levi, but he would have taken it for the belt. Whoever the next fight is, it needs to be someone with a winning record against guys with winning records. Pete Spratt in November, we're all about that one.

PS - Hi Bryan O! I think you're handsome!

LARRY SROCK 2 years ago

BRYAN, BY SAYING THAT MARCIO ISNT A REMATCH THAT HE WOULD TAKE RIGHT NOW IS THIS THE SAME AS SAYING THAT IF MARCIO WINS THE REMATCH WITH DYLAN AND GETS THE BELT THAT LEVI WOULD REFUSE THE FIGHT? BECAUSE TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS IS THE PATH THAT WOULD HAPPEN ID MARCIO WINS THAT FIGHT AND LEVI GETS MIKE JACKSON.

O'Rourke is the fake one. I am the real Bryan

lolz @ the imp me implying I drink wine. I mean, maybe a nice red with a steak. Or maybe if there is nothing else to drink. Anyway, NOT ONCE did Justin say a negative thing about Dylan to me OR Levi. If someone has any other inclination, it would be my guess they were looking for something that wasn't there. I HAVE told Justin several times that Dylan is not yet on Levi's level and it was a bad matchup this early for him, but we want that belt back. I was looking forward to playing some chess with Justin cause I know he would have Dylan ready. Fighting Marcio Navarro is not a rematch we're willing to take. Dylan is a good kid and has a ton of potential. For anyone to infer Justin isn't responsible in part for helping get Dylan to the point he was (undefeated) doesn't know what they're talking about. I wish Dylan nothing but the best, and told him after his fight to keep after it. He's got his first loss out of the way and can refocus on training hard, with whomever that may be.

I ONLY JUDGE PEOPLE BY THEIR OWN COMMENTS AND ACTIONS, THAT BEING SAID I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY BAD CONVERSATION WITH DYLAN. HE IS A GOOD GUY. I CANT WAIT TO SEE HIM AND MARCIO AGAIN.

J 2 years ago

I am closer to Dylan Smith than his Dad or his coaches. I can tell you that he is greatly upset by the things that have been posted here and wants people to know that none of these comments represent his feelings. He has utmost respect for all the fighters, all coaches and the sport in general. Please don't judge Dylan by these emotionally charged comments. He would be the first one to say that it was a good fight.

Bryan O 2 years ago

Yeah! I was there. Beau was hilarious. Taking a piss on the Pride announcers. and the 5 glasses of wine we had didnt hurt matters, good times!

Greg Howard 2 years ago

Also good fight. Navarro was the clear winner to me.

Greg Howard 2 years ago

LOL, The Bo tayler due was hilarious. I want him announcing all of the purefights from now on. I LOL'ed probably 15 times. Jake Shields was on the video too. Pretty cool stuff.

Skylar 2 years ago

Hardknocks,
Fair enough. As I stated earlier good luck to you also.

Skylar 2 years ago

Very well...Let's move on from this... I did my best with Dylan and hope that all pettiness can be put aside so he can move on to bigger arenas. I would think that is what you would want. Again good luck to you guys.

Skylar Smith 2 years ago

Hardknocks,
Please note, when you were observed bad mouthing my son, he had not even fought yet. Therefore the comments didn't come from any drunk guy in the crowd. Please note, no one said that Levi was bad mouthing Dylan. Please note you started the bullshit on the web when you thought someone else was me. You made the father comment. I had not been on the web prior to this morning. And I do stand by my statement about Dylan having outgrown your training.

Skylar 2 years ago

Anyways.. Enough said....Frustrating times for all of us. Dylan has done a great job and has a alot of support from people who truly care. As a coach...It is hard for me not to be emotional....I apologize for any comments made on here that were illogical. Its hard to let a kid go that I have spent so much time with. Good luck to you guys!

Skylar Smith 2 years ago

Hardknocks,
I am Dylans' dad. Of course you know me.

Hardknocks:To Skylar Smith 2 years ago

I would never have recognized you because I have no idea who you are for one. As for talking to Levi, we never said anything negative about Dylan other than he had a new coaching crew for the evening. There was a drunk who has been following Dylan since his the beginning of his career who was talking negatively about him because he looked out of his element. I did the best I could to ignore him. Also, I will be sure to let all the Hardknocks members know that Dylan has outgrown our gym and that there is no one qualified to train with. You have no idea what goes into training someone nor do you see what goes on behind the scenes! All you see is a guy sitting on the sidelines yelling. Please note you are the one who started your childish comments about us by hiding on the web.

Way to go Marcio!!!

You ROCK!!!!!

larry srock 2 years ago

skyler,

maybe you are right maybe you are wrong. we will never know. it was a good fight. the fact is i was responding to a coment posted by unc e who stated dylan clearly won the fight. this is no where near the truth. marcio excecuted a gameplan perfectly. all but the pulling guard part. im sure the rematch will be even better but with 5 rounds instead of 3.

i stand by my statement that marcio winning the first with a knockdown and a submission attempt
lost the second dylan had the best of the striking in rd 2
won the 3rd clearly due to the takedown, ground control, and taking full mount @ the end of the rd

result marcio wins 2 rds to 1

i am looking forward to the rematch as usual, the 2nd time around means a better fight, more exposure/hype, and more money.

Skylar Smith 2 years ago

Srock,
Part of your comments are right on target, but some aren't. Marcio did not have a submission that the bell saved Dylan from. It was not locked in and was on the side of the neck. wasn't going to be too effective.

Skylar Smith 2 years ago

Hardknocks:
Since you brought me into the conversation I will weigh in. First and foremost I am not worried about running across you anywhere. You don't scare me at all. Pretty stupid comment you made. In several of Dylans' fights that he has won from the ground, all you do is sit on the sidelines and yell stand him up. It's pretty bad when your student realizes that he has the fight under control and you his coach don't. You might think about adding some ground technique to your training. Dylan needs work on his ground game, he knows this, and he can't get it from you or your gym. It is my understanding that you are a part of the Dale Cook umbrella. You chose not to be in Dylans' corner on your own. And yes you spent the whole evening bad mouthing Dylan to people. As I walked by one time you were talking to Levi Avera and when you noticed me you quickly shut your mouth. It was too late, because my wife whom you didn't recognize heard you mouthing, as she was in front of me. Not much of a coach or leader when you act like a child. You do not coach a complete game for fighting MMA style and until you do, people like my son will have to take what they can learn from you and then move on, if they hope to be successful in the ring in a bigger setting. Thank you for what you taught Dylan and good luck down the road. I feel sure that we will be successful as we move forward. Now go on to other things and don't spend all your time mouthing on the web about the fighter who outgrew his coach and wanted the best future he could provide for himself.

T 2 years ago

Larry stated that Dylan got beat on the ground, and Hardknocks thanked him for noticing. So "Coach" why wasn't he getting instruction on his ground game???????????????

T 2 years ago

Dear Hardknocks:
Too bad you are an idiot! I am not a father, I am a girl who is entiteled to her opinion. Dylan had gone as far with the gym in Enid as he could. Why do you have to threaten about kicking someone's ass. I have always cheered for the guys from Enid. I don't have anything against them or the gym. I don't know you personally, and never had anything against you until I personally overheard you talking shit on Dylan on Friday night before he fought. I do have my facts straight. You should stop being so childish and man up to running your mouth. I'm not taking anything from you as a coach. I simply said that he had gone as far as he could and needed to make a change to better himself. By the way, I will let his dad know you said he needs to be a real father!!!!
