Description

VICTORY Fighting Championship is locked and loaded for VFC 29: THE RISING! Headlining on November 13th is Chuck "The Reverend" Grigsby. The Reverend will be defending his long-standing light heavyweight belt against steam rolling Omaha native "The Demolition Man" Demetrius Richards. Grigsby last climbed into the VICTORY cage for VFC 26: Onslaught where he knocked out UFC vet and Salt Lake City native Rob MacDonald in the first round with a vicious knee to the head. Richards comes to the cage with an undefeated record and three impressive TKO’s in his last three fights. This will be the first head-to-head battle between the two and is expected to be one of the best battles in VICTORY history. ??Jimmy Seipel returns to the cage for VFC 29 as he looks to extend his undefeated pro record and gain more momentum towards a shot at the coveted 155lb VICTORY Lightweight belt, currently held by Joe Ellenberger. Seipel is slated to take on local firefighter Bryce Teager. This intriguing match-up came together after Chase Hackett, Seipel’s original opponent backed out his commitment to fight Seipel in VFC 29. Although Seipel was looking forward to handing Hackett his second loss in front of the home crowd, he is more excited as ever to go toe to toe with Teager. Teager last appeared in the VICTORY cage for VFC 20: ACES where he submitted Josh Arocho in the first round with an impressive arm bar. That win overArocho was the start of a four fight win streak which has not seen Teager lose in over two years. Seipel is riding his own win streak and hungry for another VFC victory and a hopeful shot at the title.

Seipel rival and VICTORY golden boy Drew Dober will be back in the VFC cage taking on Minnesota Madman Brandon Girst. Girst brings his impressive 4-0 pro record from the Twin Cities to the Mid-America Center to take on Dober in his own back yard. Dober is training harder than ever following a his first loss ever in Denver, Colorado back in September. He is committed to putting on another impressive showing in front of the VICTORY fans and regaining his winning ways against the visiting Brandon Girst.

South Dakota native Josh Rave was originally scheduled to fight VICTORY veteran and current 145lb Featherweight title holder Zach Wolff for the new 135lb Bantamweight title, but unfortunately Zach was injured in training and not able to battle for the new belt. Instead Rave will climb in the cage and take on Missouri native AJ VanCamp. The belt will have to wait until February when Zach Wolff will be back in the cage healthy and ready to take on the winner of Rave and VanCamp. Although this will not be a title fight Rave is anxious to make his mark as the best 135lb fighter in the VICTORY ranks. VanCamp will be bringing his strong stand-up and impressive ground attack to go toe-to-toe with the heavy hitting Rave. Both men hope to make their mark and solidify their chance to take on Wolff for the belt in February.

Both standout amateur Dakota Cochrane and three-time UNO All-American Ross Taplin will make their pro debuts in VFC 29. VICTORY fans last saw Cochrane at VFC 28 when he knocked out James Harrington on the amateur undercard. Cochrane will be matched against local tough-guy Alex Harper. Ross Taplin, college wrestling stand-out and current local coach, will be making his first appearance in the VFC cage on November 13th and is sure to give his old fans and new fans a show they will never forget.
