Ricardo began training jiu jitsu at the age of 14 with Carlson Gracie in Rio De Janeiro Brazil. Jiu jitsu wasn't that big at the time and there was actually a strong link between jiu jitsu and surf. He became involved in vale tudo, bare knuckle fighting while in Brazil and founded Brazilian Top Team before coming to the States and opening ATT in 2001. The team started off small but was talented and then the growth of mma helped their gym grow to where it is today.
