Ben Askren trains for mma takedowns with Kiko France at American Top Team in Columbia, MO. Also training in the background is Tyron Woodley and Jason Hecht working on some stand up.
I think these great college wrestlers entering the world of MMA is great. A great amatuer wrestling background in the US is the best base to start from and the rest can be learned. Ben isnt wasting any olympic talent, he did that too...remember. I guarantee that in 4-5 years the UFC will modify their rules again to give other discipline an advantage because college wrestlers will be so prevelent in the top ranks.
All due respect, I hope Ben has a good chin (no pun intended....looks can be deceiving) if he doesn't add some more bob & weave to his stance he's gonna get nailed by a good standup guy. His head is almost as stationary as rosholt's....better get it to the ground quick...
i vil break you (5-4)
the only thing thats a waste, is how a sport like ours doesn't get marketed. not even during an olympic event. not that i don't love mma. its just sad that in our sport the only options you really have are either coach, or switch over to mma. people have the right to make a living.
What a waste of Olympic level wrestling skills.
i cant wait to see him fight! go get 'em tiger!
I predict Ben loses 5-4
let's do the damn thing then ben!!
