Nate started doing jiu jitsu and contact sparring when he was in high school after seeing the UFC on tv. He won his first fight by triangle choke in a no time limit fight. He has been dealing with the feeling of nerves and does not let it consume him. He has his mind ready 10 minutes before the fight and doesn't mind the big crowd. His training regimen changes up a little bit as he goes because he trains at several different places like Denver, Montreal and Albuquerque. When learning the different disciplines he only takes things from them that will work for him in mma.
