Well last night was a little disappointing to say the least. I live in Austin, TX and found a fight to cover in San Antonio yesterday which was put on by the Southwest Fight League. I thought something seemed strange having an mma event in the middle of the week but figured, what the hell, I'm always looking for mma events to cover so I went. I convinced my good friend Joe from Flowrestling to come with me and help with the coverage. I was relieved to see the cage in place and all the chairs set up at the venue when we arrived. We got our media credentials, got settled in and around 8:00 the ring announcer came on and said we were about to start. Five minutes later he said we had to wait because of the weather.

This was an outdoor event with the cage and seats under a large pavillion top and there had been a thunderstorm, earlier, but the rain had stopped. He came on a couple more times and mentioned something about waiting on one of the fighters who had travel issues. Since there weren't any fight cards being handed out I went over to where the commission was sitting and copied the names of the fighters down on paper so I would be able to label the videos... There were 6 fights listed on the sheet.

Shortly after that is when the rumors started circulating about about the show being cancelled... and sure enough it was cancelled. The ring announcer came back on and announced that the state commission shut it down because of weather... What a coincidence that there were only a couple hundred people in the stands and not a whole lot of fighters there either. It was really frustrating, especially seeing the fighters in the back getting warmed up, knowing they trained and prepared for this fight and their friends and family there to watch. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and trust that Purefight will not be headed back to any Southwest Fight League events anytime soon... so instead of the Pure knockout and submission videos, today we have this blog... my apologies
